Alberto Roper Pol
I have joined the Department de Physique Théorique at the Université de Genève in September 2022 with a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Ambizione grant to the project "Exploring the early universe with gravitational waves and primordial magnetic fields" (https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/208807) as collaborateur scientifique II. Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Astroparticule et Cosmologie (APC) laboratorie in Paris, and I graduated from my PhD at the University of Colorado in 2020.
I study the generation of gravitational waves in the early universe to improve our understanding of high energy physics.
In particular, I perform large-scale simulations to analyze the production of gravitational waves in the presence of primordial magnetic fields and turbulence from, for example, first-order phase transitions.
I am interested in theoretical cosmology, cosmological gravitational wave backgrounds, propagation of gravitational waves, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), magnetic field production, turbulence, high-performance computing, phase transitions, numerical relativity.
