Pressure from the Dark. A geometric extension of the CDM paradigm

Date:
19. October 2012 - 11:30 to 12:30

The standard Cold Dark Matter (CDM) paradigm of structure formation has proven to be extremely powerful in predicting the evolution and formation of the structure we see in the Universe. However, the yet undetected dark matter particles and some tension between simulations and observations have made the investigation of alternative models a powerful and necessary tool to improve the understanding of the Unviverse dynamics.
In this talk I will consider an extension of the CDM model in which a dark fluid becomes non-minimally coupled to gravity at recent times (z<10) and investigate its cosmological consequences. In particular I will present the effects of this coupling when translated into an approximated Einstein Frame on both background cosmology and linear perturbations.
