Recent development of “multi-messenger” astronomy has significantly advanced us toward resolution of the long-standing (>100 year old) problem of the origin of cosmic rays. I will review the status of this problem and show how a combination of cosmic ray, gamma-ray and neutrino data allows to pinpoint and characterise population of astronomical sources producing cosmic rays in our Galaxy and even to determine precise characteristics of a particular source which has injected cosmic rays some 2-3 Myr ago in the local interstellar medium.
