In this talk I will discuss the stability of the electroweak vacuum in the Standard Model. After a brief review, I will discuss
in detail (i) the impact of non-zero neutrino masses and (ii) the importance of thermal corrections in the early Universe,
with a special emphasis on their cosmological role. If time permits, I will comment on the importance of vacuum stability
in the presence of a new scalar resonance at 750 GeV.
